What does Levin Budget Services actually do?

We provide free, confidential financial mentoring to individuals and whānau. That’s our way of taking care of our local communities.

That includes budgeting support, debt management, creditor negotiations, savings planning, hardship applications and guidance through more complex financial situations.

We don’t judge and we don’t lecture. We listen, we understand your goals and we work alongside you to create practical steps forward.

How many financial mentors do you have at the moment?

Currently we have 6 fantastic mentors and one trainee mentor and we’re all very dedicated and passionate about what we do.

As well as being based across the Horowhenua District we now have Budget Services Kāpiti after having won the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) tender to provide “Building Financial Capability” services. We’ve very proud of that achievement and what we can now provide across these wonderful communities.

Is this service free?

Yes. Our financial mentoring services are free to access. We believe everyone deserves support to build financial wellbeing, regardless of their situation.

Will you tell me what to do with my money?

No. This is your journey. We’re here to offer guidance, knowledge, and options but you stay in control. We work collaboratively so any plan we create feels realistic and achievable for you.

Can you help if I have debt?

Yes. Debt can feel heavy and overwhelming, but you don’t have to manage it alone. We can:

●      Help you understand what you owe

●      Work through repayment options (we’re master negotiators!)

●      Support conversations with creditors

●      Explore hardship or insolvency options if needed

Our focus is always on practical, manageable solutions.

Do you help with KiwiSaver hardship applications?

Yes, we do. If you’re experiencing significant financial hardship, we can guide you through the KiwiSaver early withdrawal process and help you complete the required documentation correctly.

What if I’ve already fallen behind on bills?

That’s okay. It’s never “too late” to ask for support. We can help prioritise payments, communicate with creditors and develop a plan to reduce stress and regain control.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Everything you share with us is treated with strict confidentiality and professionalism.

What’s a recent proud moment for Levin Budget Services?

Being part of the MSD tender means:
